The Carcinogenic Potency Project

Published Plot Format of the Carcinogenic Potency Database

The Carcinogenic Potency Database (CPDB) on this Web site is an updated combined plot that is not published elsewhere in its entirety. Results from experiments, both general literature and NCI/NTP, are included under the chemical name and sorted alphabetically in a choice of 4 formats: (1) PDF of the plot format that has been published, (2) a PDF of the screen readable format (3) a tab-separated format and (4) Excel format. Results are included for 6540 experiments on 1547 chemicals.

A brief description of each field in this published plot format uses an example of one experiment.

A more detailed guide to the plot describes each variable in the order in which it appears. An example of one experiment is used as a guide to the results.

Methods used to develop the CPDB describe sources of data, inclusion criteria, choice of tissue and tumor to include, standardization of daily dose-rate for each species and estimation of TD50. Information is also provided about diversity of bioassay designs in the CPDB, e.g., dose ranges tested, number of dose groups, and the frequency of testing per chemical.
